As more and more families move into Queen’s Park and Kensal Rise, a need for extra nursery places arises, so we’re delighted to bring you news of Dandelions Nursery School located within Kensal Rise Methodist Church.

The nursery opened its doors at the end of April with two local mothers at the helm – Hannah Anderson who has over 15 years of teaching experience in Primary and Nursery Schools with an MSc in Development Studies and a BSc in Early Childhood Studies; and Amy Smith, who has a background in start up businesses and a training in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Both Hannah and Amy bring their own unique approach to children’s learning with lots of fun, adventurous and imaginative play and are delighted to be working together in their local area.

The aim of Dandelions Nursery School is to provide a stimulating and creative play environment where each activity is designed to capture your child’s imagination  – whether it be learning to count dinosaur bones they have excavated from the sandpit, or using printing to practice naming shapes. Hannah and Amy strongly believe that every child is unique and that their learning journey should follow a pattern that best suits their individual personality.

The nursery curriculum is based on the national EYFS with emphasis on building children’s confidence and self-esteem and encouraging them to question and explore. In addition to all of their own messy activities, they invite specialist teachers to join them for short sessions during each term (children’s yoga, music and movement).  They also provide fun, small-group teaching for those children who are preparing for school (3+ years)

Hannah and Amy believe children flourish and grow in a loving, caring, creative and fun environment and experimenting through play is the best way to learn. Their warm and friendly team are all highly experienced and passionate about early years education and are excited to support your child to become brave and confident learners.

The nursery has already started to make waves in the community and have a growing number of very happy parents…

Hannah and Amy have created a very special nursery, and I feel so lucky to have it in my neighbourhood! The staff are excellent without exception; so welcoming and friendly, and the space couldn’t be better – they have a huge array of toys and activities to keep little people endlessly engaged and happy. My daughter absolutely loves her days there, so much so that she squeals with excitement any time we drive past at the weekend because she thinks we might be going there! I truly couldn’t be happier with our experience, thank you Hannah, Amy and all of Team Dandelion for creating such a caring, nurturing, inspiring environment”

Jessica Press  – mother of 19-month-old Tabitha

“We have been very impressed with the team at Dandelions and are delighted with our son’s progress since its opening. The ongoing parent-teacher communication has been superb. They are very friendly, creative and experienced, and we look forward to sending our second child there!”
