HALLOWEEN THEMED HALF TERM ACTIVITIES

The time of year when we dress our little ones in ghoulish costumes and allow them to consume copious amounts of candy is once again almost upon us; and as it almost coincides with half term week, we’ve compiled a fantastic guide of local(ish) activities to keep the whole family entertained plus that all important Trick-or-Treating information.

What’s more, as Guy Fawkes night is just around the corner, we have included firework attractions in Queen’s Park and a little further afield.

SPOOKTACULAR FUN AT BOB’S CAFE

Allow the kids to have fun decorating your own bag for trick or treating whilst you all enjoy a lunch at Bob’s Café.

Get a spooky spine-tingling time at this Halloween Funfair.

HALLOWEEN KIDS CLUB AT BRENT CROSS

Brent Cross shopping centre is throwing a spooky kids event which will include different activities everyday of the week: skeleton pasta art, Jack Sparrow meet and greet, bath bomb making, pumpkin carving workshops and pirate face paints & bandanas to name a few…

Willesden Green Librabry provides a Halloween-themed arts and crafts activity for children aged 5 to 11. A prize is given for the best costume!

HALLOWEEN FUN AT FLIP OUT BRENT CROSS

Flip Out Brent Cross will be hosting flips and funs with spooky and ghoulish friends dotted around the arena during Halloween Half Term week. Join Flip Out for an awesome competition when inside the arena and compete to win a scary hamper full of slime and other halloween delights worth over £100! On Halloween day itself there will be cookie decorating too between 9am and 3pm! For ages 6months +

GRUESOME NATURE LIVE AT ZSL LONDON ZOO 

An interactive musical show featuring original songs, you can find out the frightful facts about some truly grisly creatures, including who’s got the largest, slimiest eyeball, and which species of animal can endure fire, ice and radiation and even survive in outer space, plus many more monstrous truths! HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN IN CONCERT

TRICK-OR-TREATING

If you’re taking the kids out for a spot of trick-or-treating, make sure you don’t miss the famous ghoulish action around the roads of Dundonald/Crediton/Wrentham Ave in Kensal Rise.

Not only will there be plenty of goodies and fantastically decorated houses again, but by attending you can also help raise money for a brilliant local charity millionandon Dundonald residents and Queens Park Design & Build will again DOUBLE every penny donated in the buckets to Great Ormond Street Hospital. Please take care to only put money into authorized Dundonald Rd buckets (sadly last year there were rogue glow stick sellers around claiming to be collecting for GOSH).

FIREWORK DISPLAYS

QUEEN’S PARK GARDENS FIREWORK DISPLAY

Queen’s Park’s annual family friendly firework display.

When: Monday 5th November.  Gates open 5.15pm for fireworks to begin at 6-6.20pm
Where: Queen’s Park Gardens, Ilbert Street, W10 4QJ.  Entrance to park (at Third Avenue) subject to capacity restrictions, with views just as good from Ilbert Street.

As a result of the popularity of the event, this year there will be additional road closures and extra security to make sure the event continues to be safe. The following roads will but shut from 4pm onwards:

Ilbert Street – between Galton Street and Third Avenue
Fourth Avenue – between Ilbert Street and Enbrook Stree t
Third Avenue – between Kilravock and Caird
Bruckner Street – between Lancefield and Third will be resident access only.

LIGHT UP THE NIGHT FESTIVAL

Wembley Park Fireworks Night returns on November 4th 2018 with FREE ‘Light Up The Night’ festival for all the family, to celebrate Brent’s cultural diversity in an explosion of music, colours, fire and light, which combine the best of Bonfire Night and Diwali. It will be free to members of the public, making it a unique experience for communities in Brent and London-wide.

Starting at 4 pm, Light Up the Night will feature live performances, Doctor Kronovator’s Fire Laboratory – an interactive environment with nine ingenious fire installations – and a fire and light parade created by Emergency Exit Arts, culminating in a firework spectacular at 7pm.

When: Sunday 4th November, 4pm – 7pm

LORD MAYOR’S SHOW

The Lord Mayor’s Procession commences at 11am, featuring carriages, carts, vintage cars, tanks, penny farthings and more. Starting at Mansion House and ending at the Royal Courts of Justice in Aldwych, the procession can be seen from a variety of spots in the city. Guided walks around the square mile will be setting off at various times too, in the lull before the fireworks.

Alternatively, head to the riverfront to watch the Thames display in the afternoon.

When: Saturday 10th November, 11am start.  Fireworks at 5.15pm
Where: City square mile
Cost: Free or payment for the Grandstand seats.  Advisable to turn up early.
